Email Manager

NextGen Climate is currently seeking a data-driven, creative, self-starting Email Manager with an eye for detail and a track record of getting results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  “Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer, under the direction of the Press Secretary.

  1. Conceptualize, execute, and lead email programs in support of national and state level campaigns.
  2. Update and manage email check-listing process for the organization and its vendors.
  3. Draft, code, segment, test, and send all national level emails.
  4. Review and approve state level sends and provide and maintain templates, style guides, and procedures for state level staff.
  5. Manage segmentation, lifecycle, and action inventory for new supporters gained from large-scale email acquisition campaigns.
  6. Establish KPIs in support of core organizational objectives to help maintain a strategic balance between mobilization, donation, and retention.
  7. Establish a regime of optimization and experimentation using every email send as an opportunity to improve conversion and retention.
  8. Bring to the organization and maintain an advanced working knowledge of email marketing best practices and trends.
  9. Work with stakeholders across the organization to execute highly segmented data-driven campaigns to nurture new subscribers, build loyalty and retain active subscribers, and reactivate lapsed subscribers.
  10. Monitor news and political cycles with an eye for capitalizing on moments relevant to our campaigns with winning ideas that can help drive the organization.
  11. Manage project teams and vendors at the national and state levels to maintain the health of list segments across organizational priorities while achieving objectives for multiple campaigns.
  12. Create detailed and actionable reports for consumption at the operational and executive levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. A bachelor’s degree.
  2. 1-3 years of experience in digital marketing.
  3. Advanced proficiency with advocacy CRM tools such as Blue State Digital, Convio, or Salsa is required.
  4. Enterprise level platforms a plus.
  5. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of analytical and data tools such as SQL, Google Analytics, and Excel and the ability to cut and manage segments from multiple data sources.
  6. Experience managing email lists over 250,000 strongly preferred.
  7. Experience with experiment design and optimization highly preferred.
  8. HTML/CSS proficiency strongly desired.
  9. Superior writing skills with a portfolio of results are a must.
  10. The candidate must also have have excellent organizational skills, and demonstrate a clear ability to adapt rapidly to evolving priorities and deadlines.
  11. S/he must have a strong work ethic and demonstrate consistent attention to detail.
