Tomorrow marks the first time since 1888 that Thanksgiving and Hanukkah fall on the same date…and it won’t happen again (from what I’ve read) until 7791.

Why is any of this at all relevant?

Well, for me anyway it serves as a reminder of the wonder of it all.

This year still has some highly anticipated, highly lauded days remaining but IMO Thanksgiving really is the one that stands out as landmark.

Giving thanks…being grateful…how much more important does it get?

I really and truly am grateful for this day and this year…

It’s been filled with many milestones including authoring a book (OK, it’s in the “editing” phase but that in and of itself is landmark for yours truly!) and representing the United States as Head Coach of Team USA Junior Boy’s Basketball for the 19th Maccabiah, the third largest sporting event in the world.

Never wrote a book…never been to Israel until 2013…celebrating an event with family and friends that hasn’t happened in hundreds of years and won’t happen for THOUSANDS more…

How can one not be grateful, thankful and in overall awe!?

Bruce Springsteen wrote:

“I got a new suit of clothes, a pretty red rose and a woman I can call my friend…these are better days”.

I agree and am so very thankful for them!

Also, I am grateful for all of the people who have helped me thus far on my journey; to think any of us just got here is the definition of “hubris”…

Each of us are here, today because of so many others; I am so grateful to so many others.

From Bruce Springsteen to Golda Meir:

“I never did anything alone. Whatever was accomplished in this country was accomplished collectively.”

True that for her…true that for us all!

If you’re reading this I’m grateful to you and to many others…

Wife, daughter, son, dog, extended family, friends, athletes I’ve coached, professionals I’ve coached and mentored…thankful beyond words for so much!

Warmly,

Barry
